Adam Levine leaves The Voice after 16 seasons and only weeks that saw him pouting while promoting the NBC show.
Carson Daily, host of the show, made the announcement this Friday on Today show:
“After 16 seasons, Adam Levine, our dear coach and friend, has decided to leave ‘The Voice’. Adam was one of the original coaches who launched the show, winning the competition three times and inspiring many artists with whom he worked very closely for years … He will always be a very beloved member of The Voice family and, of course, we wish him the best. “
Gwen Stefani will return as coach in season 17 to replace Adam. He will join John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton – his boyfriend whom he met on the show.
Pagesix reports that Adam Levine was seen looking patronizing The Voice at the NBCUniversal Upfronts event on May 13. He did not smile once when he performed with Legend, Clarkson and Shelton, and was remarkably unenthusiastic on stage. The funny thing is that a few days before the show had written on Twitter that Levine was returning.
After the announcement of the departure of Levine from The Voice this Friday, the Maroon 5 wrote on Twitter that it was time to move on and thanked everyone for his support, calling his work in The Voice a wonderful journey that will always be in his heart.
Adam Levine, 40, was a coach when the show premiered in 2011, along with Shelton, CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera . NEXT!
